Rice Fields

Rice fields in Bario. Most of the Ibans in Second Division grew hill rice, which was red with a robust nutty flavor. The Kelabit rice grew in flooded fields. It was smaller- grained and had a more delicate flavor. The farmers hang strips of tin long poles. They flutter in the wind to scare away birds.
